Bethany Hill Place offers affordable housing to approximately 150 adults and children annually. But securing housing is just the first step in our families’ efforts to build or re-build a stable life.
Our comprehensive programming gives our residents the foundation they need for success as a parent, employee, student, family member, and community resident. With consistent reinforcement and on-going assistance from staff, residents develop academic, vocational, and life skills that allow them to proactively manage their lives and households.
Our work is designed to:
Build financial stability – Adult education seminars help residents improve financial literacy, budgeting, and money management. One-on-one counsel with staff guides residents with building job readiness skills, computer and Internet literacy, GED attainment, and college admissions.
Increase parenting knowledge – Our parenting education program increases residents’ knowledge of healthy parenting, child development, and child socio-emotional development.
Support health and well-being – Self-care and meditation groups give residents the chance to heal and build resiliency, while program staff supports residents individually with the tools to manage their health, including accessing healthy meals and transportation to medical appointments.
Create social connectedness – Holiday parties, Community Garden Club, monthly Lug-a-Mug coffee chats, and other community activities throughout the year cultivate connections among neighbors, create a network of support, and develop a happier, more stable community.
Build social, academic, and leadership skills in youth – Our Emerging Leaders program gives youth jobs in our building, developing skills for school and the future, and our Reading, Homework, and Summer Clubs combine enrichment with academics to keep learning alive and build solid academic skills. These afterschool and summer programs help children gain competencies that will sustain them through challenges, successes, and life experiences.
